Covenant & Government #14

Our focus this week for repentance of breaking covenant with the Lord in the area of government comes from Scriptures that pertain to nations in the book of Joel.

Repentance & Replacement

As a member of the Royal Priesthood, please repent for breaking covenant with the Lord on behalf of yourself, your generations and your nation for the following and replace with statements in italics:

  • being oblivious to and/or being in defiance of the fact that the Lord will judge the nations on account of His people and His heritage of Israel (Joel 3:2)
    • acknowledging and living from the reality that the Lord will judge the nations on account of how they treat His people and His heritage of Israel (Joel 3:2)
  • as a nation, scattering the people of Israel among the nations (Joel 3:2)
  • as a nation, dividing God’s land—the land of Israel (Joel 3:2)
  • as a nation, selling the people of Jerusalem to the Greeks (Joel 3:6)
    • as a nation, serving Jerusalem (Is 60:12)
    • as a nation, not dividing the land of Israel (Joel 3:2)
    • as a nation, not lifting your horn or strength against the land of Judah to scatter it (Zech 1:21)
    • being a nation who never touches Jerusalem, the apple of His eye (Zech 2:8)
  • as a nation, casting lots for the people of God by giving a boy as payment for a harlot (Joel 3:3)
  • as a nation, casting lots for the people of God by selling a girl for wine that you may drink (Joel 3:3)
    • asking the Lord to reveal what this looks like and if there are examples of these in your nation that need to be repented of and corrected
    • if this is something that needs to be corrected in your nation, please ask the Lord for wisdom and strategy for the healing and restoration needed in this area
    • there are many Africans who are of Jewish descent, perhaps slavery fits this category
    • as a nation, loving the Lord with all your heart, soul and strength (Deut 6:5)
    • as a nation, loving your neighbor as yourself (Lev 19:18)
    • as a nation, doing unto others as you want them to do unto you (Luke 6:31)
  • as a nation, retaliating against the Lord by carrying into your temples His prized possessions of His silver and His gold (Joel 3:4-5)
    • as a nation, loving the Lord with all your heart, soul and strength (Deut 6:5)
    • as a nation, restoring the stolen articles of the temple of the Lord and returning them in order to prepare for the rebuilding of the temple of the Lord for the house of the Lord will be a house of prayer for all nations (Ezra 6:5; Is 56:7; Is 66:18, 23 Ezek 40-44; Zech 6:15; Zech 14:9)

Prayers for Israel

For the nation and kingdom which will not serve you [Jerusalem] shall perish,
and those nations shall be utterly ruined. Isaiah 60:12

Please pray for our Nation’s involvement and support for Israel.

Blessed are You Adonai, the Holy One of Israel, who keeps covenant with Israel. Thank You for Your Word that speaks blessings to Your people from Joel 3:18-21:

And it will come to pass in that day
That the mountains shall drip with new wine,
The hills shall flow with milk,
And all the brooks of Judah shall be flooded with water;
A fountain shall flow from the house of the Lord
And water the Valley of Acacias.

“Egypt shall be a desolation,
And Edom a desolate wilderness,
Because of violence against the people of Judah,
For they have shed innocent blood in their land.
But Judah shall abide forever,
And Jerusalem from generation to generation.
For I will acquit them of the guilt of bloodshed, whom I had not acquitted;
For the Lord dwells in Zion.”

Amen.
