“The law of truth was in his mouth,
And injustice was not found on his lips.
He walked with Me in peace and equity,
And turned many away from iniquity.

“For the lips of a priest should keep knowledge,
And people should seek the law from his mouth;
For he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.”
—Malachi 2:6-7

As the Royal Priesthood of believers our lips are to keep knowledge, the law of the Lord and the law of truth. In Hebrew the word translated as “law” [H8451] means, “law, direction or instruction.” When hearing the word law without the understanding that it means instruction, it can be viewed as harsh or heavy-handed. This is not the Lord’s intention. The law and instruction of the Lord gives valuable information as to how we as members of the Royal Priesthood can keep covenant with the Lord of Hosts. He goes into detail with instructions that teach us everything we need to know in order to live in covenant with Him so He can satisfy the fullness of the provisions of the covenant.

As we continue our journey of increasing our awareness of the responsibilities of being a member of the Royal Priesthood, let us improve on how we keep covenant with the Lord by keeping knowledge with our lips.

Repentance

As a member of the Royal Priesthood, please repent for breaking covenant with the Lord on behalf of yourself, your generations and your nation for…

  • not having the law of truth in your mouth, leading others astray, or misrepresenting the covenant of life and peace of the Lord (Mal 2:6)
  • having iniquity on your lips (Mal 2:6)
  • the Hebrew word [H5766] translated as “iniquity” means, “injustice, unrighteousness, wrong, injustice (of speech)”
  • not keeping knowledge and instruction with your lips (Prov 5:2; Mal 2:7)
  • not preserving discretion with your words (Prov 5:2)
  • not using wisdom with your words (Prov 15:7)
  • having the heart of a fool and not dispersing knowledge and instruction with your lips (Prov 15:7)
  • devaluing your lips by not seeing that the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel (Prov 20:15)
  • speaking forth evil things from the evil treasures in your heart (Matt 12:35)
  • speaking idle and lazy words (Matt 12:36)
  • the Hebrew word [G692] translated as “idle” includes meanings, “lazy” and “for the idleness of shunning the labor which you are to perform”
  • the idleness of shunning the labor which you are to perform (Matt 12:36)

Please repent of the list above on behalf of yourself, your generations and your nation as to how you have hurt others by these actions or beliefs.

Bless Israel

Dear Heavenly Father, please fill my heart and my mouth with Your words in order that my lips would keep knowledge of Israel and Your people. May I only know and speak the truth concerning her. Please help me to be wise in how I disperse the knowledge of Your covenant of shalom with Israel. Please show me ways I can speak Your words about Israel and speak words of support and blessing over her, amen.

Please, take a moment to write down what the Lord says to you in response.

Stewardship & Growth in Spiritual Authority

Dear Heavenly Father, please help me to be aware at all times that my lips are valuable as precious jewels and to speak only things of value and honor.

What have I talked about this last week?

What words did I speak that are idle words or words that do not contain knowledge and wisdom that are not worthy of being a member of the Royal Priesthood?

Are these idle words reflective of my activities and passions? If so, do these activities and passions need to change?

What changes do I need to make to increase speaking words of knowledge?

Lord, how can I, as a member of the Royal Priesthood, bless someone this week with Your knowledge coming from my lips?

Blessing

Beloved, as a member of the Royal Priesthood, your Heavenly Father entrusts you with His priceless and valuable knowledge. He entrusts you to treasure this knowledge in your heart to be spoken by your lips. I bless your lips to keep knowledge. May you only speak of righteousness and justice.

I bless you to preserve discretion and to be wise. I bless you to receive words of wisdom and incline your ear to hear it. As you obtain wisdom and hear it, you will grow in the capacity for your lips to keep knowledge. In order to keep knowledge, I bless you to discern and reject all words that are not wise. I bless you to treasure the commands that come from wisdom, for in this is knowledge, and they are purposed for your well-being.

I bless you to apply your heart to understanding. May your heart be filled with good treasures in order to speak forth good things from your heart. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

In order to understand the fear of the Lord and to find the knowledge of God, I bless you to cry out for discernment, to lift up your voice for understanding, to seek wisdom as silver, and to search for wisdom as hidden treasures.

Beloved, I bless you to see lips of knowledge as having the value of precious jewels. In addition to speaking forth knowledge from your lips, may you also be a doer of the Word. I bless you in the name of Yeshua, in the name of Jesus.
