Government & Covenant Part 2

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Isaiah 9:6-7 (NKJV)

Scripture repeatedly speaks of the Kingdom of God in both the Old and New Testaments. In order to understand how we are to keep covenant with the Lord in the area of earthly governments, it is imperative we seek from the Word of the Lord how covenant with the Lord works pertaining to His Kingdom.Yeshua/Jesus bears the government on His shoulder. The Hebrew word [H4951] translated as “government” means, “rule, dominion, government.” Through the increase of His dominion, rule and government comes the increase of peace.This increase of peace/shalom needs to be looked at in context of the Kingdom, and the Kingdom from the concept of peace/shalom. We cannot understand the working and infrastructure of the Kingdom of God outside the construct of peace/shalom. Living in the Kingdom of God means to be in a covenant of peace with Him. Knowing this is vital to understanding the Kingdom of God and how to apply His Kingdom infrastructure to our government.
